10 Christian Songs to Listen to Right Now
by Bibi Babatunde-Ikotun
Hi everyone, how is your week going? I trust you're doing very well and if you're not, please be encouraged. You've got a super intentional father that cares deeply about you. This week, I wanted to do something a bit different from what I normally do. I want to share some of the Christian songs that encourage me and help me worship. You might be familiar with some of them or you might even find a new one to add to your playlist.
Let's go!
Blessed Anthem | Daniel Bentley
You know that your sins are eternally forgiven right? This song is coined from a prophetic declaration of David as seen in Psalm 32: 1-2(KJV) Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity. This is also referred to by Apostle Paul in Romans 4:8
This song makes me shout for glory because David prophesied about me! I'm the man that God is not counting my sins against me because I've received his gift of salvation! This applies to you too and you should shout for glory when you listen to this song!!!
Favourite line: Call: Who’s that man o? Response: I’m that man!

Goodness of God | CeCe Winans
This song speaks to me on a very deeper level because for years I've harboured underlying inconsistent thoughts about God's nature. I've permitted thoughts that clearly contradicted scriptures. James 1:17 (AMPC) says Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].
But sometimes I've considered that maybe God can tempt or teach people lessons with sickness or pain or sadness. But God can't give what He doesn't have. He doesn't have sickness or disease or pain, therefore He is not the source of it. None of those things are good or perfect or represent Christ.
Favourite line: Your goodness is running after, Is running after me With my life laid down. I surrender now
Million Little Miracles | Elevation Worship & Maverick City
I connect with this song because many times I get so focused on what I'm trusting God to do and I forget for a minute all He has done for me in Christ. Even if God doesn't answer my prayers, it is enough that He has given me eternal life. I also connected deeply with the part Joe L Barnes listed everything God had done for Him especially how He felt God so closely even when He lost His brother. Everything He listed wasn't necessarily about money, clothes, houses, jobs etc. It was all about our realities in Christ and those are the million little miracles we should be thankful for. We should never lose sight of that.
Favourite line: It's not coincidence and it's not luck. I know it comes from above
Make Room | Jonathan McReynolds
This song is an affirmation for me. It's funny because I know that I house God and He will never leave me. But I love to sing this song to myself because it makes me prioritize my time with Jesus in prayer and in fellowship. It reminds me that when it comes to my time we Jesus, everything else can move over. My relationship with Jesus is forever a priority above everything including my lovely husband.
Favourite line: I find space for what I treasure. I make time for what I want. I choose my priorities and
Jesus you're my number one
TY Bello | He's always on my side
The first time I heard this song, I remembered the song we sang growing up that says "I have a very big God oh, He is always by my side by my side". When I sang it then, I never truly understood the depth of that statement. But this song just reminds me that God is always on my side! Like no matter what the world says about me, He will never turn His back on me. He is always taking my side! Woah! Sometimes your loved ones may never take your side but God sticks with you even when you've done something wrong and the whole world knows it. It truly brings light to Romans 8:1 (NIV) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We can never ever be condemned by God!! Glory!!!!
Favourite line: Bring your accusations, He's always on my side
Dunsin Oyekan | The Kingdom of God Album
For this entry, I couldn't make a choice so I added the whole album. If you know me, you know I'm a huge lover of Dunsin Oyekan's music. Every track in this album spurs me into praying in other tongues. I love the way He leads his listeners into worship with every track, He deliberately prompts you to burst into other tongues and give you time to stay in the place of prayer. If your prayer life is in shambles, I suggest you listen to this album.
Favourite line: Lol, too many favourite lines to pick from.
Dami Maverick | Gush feat. Kunle Kenny, Fiyin Adeniyi, Defayo & Fidel
This right here is another "tongue-bursting" song by this I mean it will help you burst in tongues! I'm a big lover of singing in tongues and this song helps me to worship by singing in tongues. And the way it boldly declared all that God calls me, it makes me super excited!
Favourite line: I am one with Christ. I am joined to Christ. I am the temple of the Holy Spirit. I am in the fullness of the Father. I am drenched in the overflow. This is where I live.
Defayo | SOTÉ feat. Limoblaze & Tumise
Okay, you're probably wondering if any rap music was going to make it on my list and yes I love this track! You can dance to it and remind yourself that you're the salt of the earth which is what SOTE stands for. I like this track because it speaks about my in Christ realities and tells me that I have work to do for the gospel since God has called me the Salt of The Earth.
Favourite line: Cos I bring the word of God that brings light, The double-edged sword that’s piercing every heart

Tomiwa Immanuel | Abba
I love this song so much!! You have no idea. It talks about God's unconditional love towards us and reminds me of Romans 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Before we decided to accept God, He already made provision for us in His love. He predestined us to love Him and to house him. His deep love for humanity is something we can never truly explain but we give thanks. Just listen to this song if you'll like to meditate on God's love for you.
Favourite line: I have your spirit Abba, You live inside of me Abba, You never leave me father, I carry your presence.
Jo Deep | Sent ft 121Selah
Here's another rap song for my rap-loving believers! It is a promo to preach the gospel. A reminder that as believers, we've been given one mandate and it's to go into the world and preach the gospel to every man, woman and child. It's by only the name of Jesus that salvation will be given to all men. We must stay with the truth that Jesus is the only way, there are no other ways to God.
Favourite line: That name saved one. That name saved another. One aim, save all. That's why we match still
